The Manifesto for Agile Software Development
What is the Agile Manifesto?
The Agile Manifesto was written by a small group of influential IT industry professionals. Tired of the poor execution and implementation of IT project development they sought to improve the ways in which IT products were created.
The members of this small team have gone on to do great things in the world of IT and project management. Many are still active today, such as Ken Schwaber who continues to develop the Scrum methodology and related Scrum training.
The Agile Manifesto states:
“We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it. Through this work we have come to value:”
- Individuals & actions over processes & tools.
- Working software over comprehensive documentation.
- Customer collaboration over contact negotiation
- Responding to change over following a plan.
“That is, while there is value in the items on the right, we value the items on the left more.”
